On March 3, 2023, Richmond Education Association (REA) members received an email via the Action Network from REA leadership regarding the upcoming election for REA President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Board of Directors as well as Delegates for the NEA convention. The email included an election memo or notice, a calendar for the upcoming election, and petitions that members must get signed and turned in to REA in order to be on the ballot. Despite no notice of the election being given until March 3, the election calendar stated that petitions became available on March 1. Per the calendar, all candidates must collect their required signatures (25 for Secretary, Treasurer, and Board of Directors and 50 for President and Vice President) from fellow REA members on their petitions, and turn in completed petitions along with a photo and a 150-word biography to the REA office by Tuesday, March 14 by 5pm in order to appear on the ballot. Elections will take place March 27, 28, and 30 at the REA office.
