The Richmond Chapter of the Virginia Caucus of Rank-and-File Educators (VCORE) is proud to announce a slate of candidates for leadership of the Richmond Education Association (REA) for the Spring 2023 REA elections. Running for leadership is Nerilis Suarez of George Wythe High School for REA President, Anne Forrester of Boushall Middle School for REA Vice President, Stephen Straus of River City Middle School for REA Treasurer, and Angela Dews of Armstrong High School for REA Secretary. All four candidates submitted the necessary petitions to the REA office on March 10th. In addition, nine VCORE-endorsed candidates also submitted petitions for the REA Board of Directors. Goals of the candidates include democratizing decision making in REA, improving member communication, and rebuilding our membership base by listening to and organizing with our members in every worksite. Read the Union RPS Workers Deserve Program to learn more about the candidates’ vision for transforming the REA if elected. REA elections will take place March 27, 28, and 30, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the REA Office, 3615 Saunders Ave., Richmond, VA 23227. Only REA members are eligible to vote, and remember to bring a valid ID.
